outside lands..

in between two festivals that i consider the peek of my summer fun, i've been browsing recent festival street style reports.. it's funny, if not ridiculous, the way local fashion blogs and sites report about festival fashion - same faces, usually other bloggers, over and over again, from one festival to another. if that's what 'street style' is supposed to be then i obviously misunderstood the expression. but being a regular festivalgoer myself i enjoy the people and style firsthand, and appreciate the fact that there are a lot of interesting, inspirational individuals besides a few local 'fashionistas'. 

therefore, lacking in local festival style photos, here's a beautiful report from the outside lands festival in san francisco which had a lot of great bands on the bill this year. pics via free people blog.

in the light of current historic changes in this small part of the world i call home, this may seem like some kind of a patriotic post.. but it's just a consequence of my recent travels through my country. although i consider myself as a citizen of the world and i don't believe in borders of any kind, there is something about that feeling when you call a place (a neighbourhood, a city, a country) your home. being happy that the world is getting smaller every second and that globetrotting is becoming more usual, doesn't mean that i don't believe in that old saying - there's no place like home.

wild belle..

to have a grunge soul and a heart back in the seventies doesn't mean that i'm not drawn into the universe of indie music that expanded a decade ago. but when it comes to discovering new music, i'm definitely not a person who devotedly follows every review that comes up on pitchfork (i think i actually have visited that site only once in my life). i stick to old-school methods like listening to favorite radio stations or gathering recommendations from my friends. it's funny that neither brought me to wild belle. i stumbled upon a picture of these two and judging by the looks (ok, call me shallow if you will) thought this might sound cool. it turned out i was right, because siblings natalie and elliot have a lot to offer besides their pretty faces and edgy style. hope to catch them at one of the festivals in the near future.
