1969..

"cultural transformation was an irresistible force during the sixties, and across america and around the globe civil rights, women's and gay liberation, the sexual revolution and, of course, the explosive soundtrack of r&b, soul and rock and roll informed everything from politics to fashion."
everytime i read something like this, i can't help but wonder, where is our '1969 spirit' today.?

viva la cuba..

being able to travel is the greatest joy a person can have. it can lift your spirit, broaden your horizons and literaly take you to places you've dreamt of. traveling far isn't always affordable, but book reading, listening to music and exploring things in any way possible surely is. and it is the first step towards appreciating the beauty that this world has to offer.
these are a few of my mum's photos from her last year's trip to cuba. looking at them and listening to her stories makes me feel like i've already been there. but they also make me want to get back soon.

another fairytale..

among a bunch of things happening at the just-finished london fashion week, besides fashion shows and front rows, there were a few of them which stood out. when jefferson hack throws a party you know it won't be conventional nor stereotypical just like the magazines he's running. inspired by a classic fairytale - alice in wonderland, the release party for AnOther magazine's 25th issue was hosted by 25 of london's it faces. the rest of them through the looking glass.

outside lands..

in between two festivals that i consider the peek of my summer fun, i've been browsing recent festival street style reports.. it's funny, if not ridiculous, the way local fashion blogs and sites report about festival fashion - same faces, usually other bloggers, over and over again, from one festival to another. if that's what 'street style' is supposed to be then i obviously misunderstood the expression. but being a regular festivalgoer myself i enjoy the people and style firsthandand appreciate the fact that there are a lot of interesting, inspirational individuals besides a few local 'fashionistas'.
therefore, lacking in local festival style photos, here's a beautiful report from the outside lands festival in san francisco which had a lot of great bands on the bill this year. pics via free people blog.
